OUR STORY

Nature, and the rainforests in particular, have more to offer us than just biodiversity and ecosystems. Over hundreds of thousands of years, nature has formed many great masterpieces.

Through its various colors, textures and shapes, nature gives us many gifts.  We need only take time out of our busy lives to enjoy these gifts.  Just like the great masterpieces created by mankind, nature’s masterpieces have a purpose—a message for our souls.  We only have to be in nature and sense nature at the right time and place to see the purpose behind nature’s works of art:  Nature’s Gift to the Soul.

OUR TEAM

J. Miguel Morales 1J. Miguel Morales 2Through his photography, J. Miguel Morales, a self-trained photographer, offers a special artistic view of nature.  Having grown up on a farm in the mountains of Costa Rica, surrounded by the remarkable beauty and variety nature has to offer, he has often been at the right time and place to see and understand the purpose behind nature’s gifts.  Nature has often touched his heart and soul in special ways.  Over the past 20 years he has captured nature’s works of art on film and has brought many special gifts out of the rainforest to share with others.  Miguel currently lives with his family on a farm in the mountains near Cartago, Costa Rica.

Karen Herzog grew up on a farm on an Indian reservation in South Dakota.  There she developed a great love and appreciation for nature and wildlife.  During her travels to Costa Rica she has also developed a keen interest in and love for the wonderful tropical plants and wildlife found in the rainforests there.  The natural beauty of Costa Rica has touched her soul.  After discovering the remarkable photography talents of her good friend of 20 years, she has teamed up with Miguel to develop meaningful opportunities for his photography, and nature’s gifts, to be shared with others.

A Message

Text Box: Mankind is the most influential force on earth.  Our influences have been positive but also negative at times.  Many of nature’s masterpieces have become endangered due to man’s negative actions.  It is now our responsibility to become more sensitive to nature and to help perpetuate nature and the Gifts it offers us.

Text Box:

We need first to become aware of what nature and the rainforests have to offer us.  Once we gain this awareness, we can then learn to appreciate nature’s masterpieces.  Only then will we see and understand the importance of protecting these gifts.

Much beauty, many masterpieces, can be discovered in the darkness of the rainforests.  We hope our special photographs, Nature’s Gifts, will help make all who view them more aware of what has become endangered.

“I see the tropical rainforest as the highest expression of the creative movement on this planet.” “Our role in the universe to give it higher value is to appreciate it, see its beauties and try to interpret them, and to be compassionate to other living things around us. This raises our universe to a much higher level on this particular planet.”

--Alexander Skutch—from “A Naturalist in the Rainforest”

The beauty and diversity of the flora and fauna found in Costa Rica is unparalleled.  Costa Rica has become more famous for its conservation efforts than for its coffee in recent years.  Over 12% of its land area is now part of a national park system created to aid in protecting the delicate ecosystems of the remaining virgin rainforests.  We hope that in viewing our photo gallery of nature’s precious gifts you will be inspired to aid in these conservation efforts.  Our collection will be changing from time-to-time as we take more photos.  So, please visit our site often!
